My Art In Isolation 2020
I have surprisingly spent all my painting time working almost exclusively in oils.
I painted portraits of family members I was isolated from as a way to keep them close using FaceTime, selfies and my own photographs as my source.
I also painted a portrait of an NHS hero - a radiologist who I know, using a photograph that she provided as a source but also drew on my knowledge of her. I continued my portraits by painting a visiting Juvenile woodpecker - who lifted my spirits so much whenever I spotted him!
The garden has also been a source of great comfort.
I have revisited a few unresolved old paintings and have also worked from old en plein air watercolour studies.
I feel fortunate to be able to lose myself in my Garden Studio in these troubled times!
Will my painting sustain me as long as Covid 19 continues I wonder?
